The short answer
Viking Repair Experts fixes Viking, Wolf and Thermador gas, induction and electric cooktops in Santa Clara homes. We diagnose the problem in your kitchen, explain what failed, and repair it at the cooktop when the needed part is available.
When a cooktop burner won't light, an igniter keeps clicking, or an induction zone refuses to heat, cooking dinner becomes a workaround. Viking Repair Experts repairs premium cooktops in Santa Clara homes, with Viking as our main focus. We also work on Wolf and Thermador cooktops and service Sub-Zero refrigeration in the same kitchens. Santa Clara is about 4 miles north of our San Jose base, so homes in 95050, 95051, 95053 and 95054 are a short drive for us. We are an independent repair company and are not affiliated with any of these brands. Below is how we approach cooktop problems, what you can check before calling, and what to expect when we come out.
Cooktop Problems We See in Santa Clara Kitchens
Most cooktop calls fall into a few patterns. Gas cooktops usually come down to ignition or flame quality. Induction and electric models tend to involve control boards, sensors, or the glass surface. Pinning down which part has failed is most of the job. Replacing parts by guesswork costs you time and money.
- Igniters that click constantly, even with the knob off
- A burner that sparks but won't catch, or lights and then goes out
- Weak, yellow, or uneven flames on a sealed burner
- Simmer settings that run too hot or blow out
- Induction zones that don't recognize the pan or display an error code
- Radiant elements that stay cold or won't turn off
- Unresponsive touch controls or loose, worn knobs
- Cracked or chipped glass-ceramic surfaces

Gas Cooktops: Viking, Wolf and Thermador
Viking gas cooktops use sealed burners with powerful high-output settings. Wolf models typically use dual-stacked burners that pair high heat with a very low simmer. Thermador's star-shaped burners spread the flame across more of the pan's base. Each design has its own weak points. On a Viking, a boilover can soak an igniter or its wiring and cause nonstop clicking. A dual-stacked Wolf burner may simmer poorly when a port is clogged or a cap sits slightly off. On a Thermador, debris in the burner ports can produce an uneven flame pattern.
We check the igniters, spark module, burner heads and caps, orifices, valves, and the gas supply to the cooktop. Sometimes careful cleaning and reseating the parts solves the problem. Other times a spark module or valve needs to be replaced. Either way, we explain what we found before doing the work.
Induction and Electric Cooktops
Induction cooktops heat the pan directly through electronics under the glass. That means problems usually trace back to a power board, a cooling fan, a temperature sensor, or the touch control panel. A zone that shuts off during cooking can point to overheating from a blocked or failing fan. A zone that doesn't respond at all is more likely a board or wiring issue. Electric radiant cooktops have simpler parts: elements, limiters, switches and controls.
Error codes help, but they don't tell the whole story. We test the components behind the code so you replace only what actually failed. If the glass is cracked, we'll tell you plainly whether replacement makes sense for your model and how available the part is.

What to Check Before You Call
A few quick checks can save you a service visit or help us narrow the problem down. If you smell gas, skip these steps. Leave the house and call your gas utility or 911 from outside.
- Make sure burner caps sit flat and centered on their bases
- Let a wet burner dry fully after a spill or cleaning, then try again
- Check the circuit breaker for electric and induction cooktops
- Confirm your pan works on induction by testing whether a magnet sticks to its base
- Write down any error code and your model number before you call
